Description
Need to digitize old photographs, slides or VHS tapes? City of Fairfax Regional Library is home to one of two Memory Depot stations in the library system. Our Memory Depot allows you to take these memories, save them to a flash drive, then share them with family and friends. Sign up for an orientation so you'll get the most out of your three hour Memory Depot station!
The Memory Depot is a do it yourself (DIY) station which enables you to digitize materials. The library's Memory Depots are currently located at the Centreville Regional Library, City of Fairfax Regional Library, George Mason Regional Library, Pohick Regional Library, Reston Regional Library and Sherwood Regional Library.
Currently, you can digitize the following formats:
Photographic prints, negatives and slides
Scrapbooks and other documents
VHS and VHS-C video cassettes
Audio cassettes
Vinyl albums (only at Centreville Regional Library)
3.5" Floppy disks
You will need to bring with you the materials you want to digitize and a USB or external hard drive with sufficient capacity for your materials to be saved digitally! Keep in mind that some of the digital files will not save to large capacity drives.
